Red vs Charcoal

Ok, so I did one door for Sarah with a punch of color and one for Merry with Charcoal. I'm not sure which looks better. The white is starting to look nice too with the green garage doors, it pops more. The charcoal looks nice, but seems to blend in. I also like the red but it may look out of place since there's no other red accents. What do you guys think?

You know... if the goal is to make the entryway stand out, then I don't think you need to worry about the color of the door. The nice staircase does this for you already :)

I would agree with hailey with her smart insightful comment that we keep forgetting about.... but it is nice to have 3 colors :) white or charcoal those are my picks and I too like the garage doors to match you house.

I don't think the red door looks right. I was thinking more of a cool tone like something bluish... but I do agree with Hailey. The entryway definitely stands out. I would either go with white or something in a cool tone.

Thanks guys for all your help. I think I'll just paint it the same white as the trim for the time being, and see how I like it. If I get tired of it, I can change it. I had forgotten that I orginally played with the idea of painting it blue, thanks for reminding me Sarah.

Okay, Now that I've seen the house in person, I really agree that the garage doors look best the same color as the house. I would keep the door white to match the paint color and then add "punch" with landscaping and lighting. The stairs do make a big front door statement, but just think what they'll look like when framed by the right rockery and shrubs, vines...whatever you choose. Add a hanging basket full of fushias in the summer.... or even window boxes on the railing with hanging geraniums....gorgeous! I am so excited for you, Jenny. You've done just a fabulous job. I was thinking this morning about your closets... Have you itemized what's going in which one and started planning how to build them? Ikea has some really great closet organizing programs online. Believe me, it's easier to do this BEFORE you build the closet. In other words, make the closet fit the stuff, not the stuff fit the closet.
