This was taken from a stump in our "backyard" looking down on the house, driveway and road.

Looking up at the house

I had the day off today and decided to walk around the property. I measured, staked, and taped off the house site. With all the trees gone and the driveway in, you get a good idea of how the property is going to look. While we were on vacation the well got put in so now we can get our construction loan. We hope to start building soon after we get the loan.

Here's the house's floorplan full of furniture and lighting. We've taken out a number of walls from our original plans for a more open feel. The walls around the kitchen nook are also half walls, so it really opens the house up.

3-D Model of our home

Since I've had plenty of time on my hands waiting for our permit, I've been able to work on the design aspect of our house. I created this image in a program called "Punch!" using our building plans. This is what I envision the house will look something like. I've also done all the interior rooms and can't wait to see the building take form.

How quickly things change

Friday Feb 1,2008 brings burried phone, cable and power lines, and nearly all the trees down from the clearning limits around the house. The driveway has a layer of gravel and the path is cleared to put the temporary road in to the well. We hope that by this coming Friday the well drilling will begin. The property is much more open to the road so we'll have plenty of privacy planting to do later, but for now we're enjoying the total transformation that will eventually yield us a home for ourselves and our future family.
